Also an additional piece of editorial from the Perth Gazette, 27th February 1847

"By the arrival of the "Java" we have been put in possession of English news to the 17th Oct., the most interesting portions of which we have given, The Java, although a bad sailor, has made an extraordinary quick passage from V.D. Land, she left Hobart Town on the 31st January, and K.G. Sound on Tuesday evening, the 16th inst. She has brought the long-awaited relief for the detachment of the 51st regiment who will now quickly leave our shores, and, we think, not without the hearty good wishes for their future welfare of all our brother settlers, with whom they have so long sojourned in amity and good fellowship. The detachment of the 96th Regt. which has arrived to fill their places, appear to be a peculiarly fine body of young men and we have every hope will follow the example of their predecessors good conduct"
