Many men were on Koorian (a farm just north of Gingin) both in the development of the land and in the day to day stock management and cropping programmes. Prior to the first world war, messers Richard Jones,Frank Hurst, Walter Truslove, Len Mortimer, E.J. Tonkin E Wells, and Mr Anderson were regularly employed, while During the war, when Mr Harper was away on active service, the farm was worked by messers S&J Murray, B.Shaw, F.Hill, E&H. Jones and G.C.King .
After his return in 1919, Prescott Harper steadily increased the number of long term employees. These included Reuben Jones who lived at Smithfield cottage on Koorian with wife and family, working here from1922 until 1942 when he enlisted for the Armed Forces and Mrs Jones and her childred went to live in a house built for them on Molecap Hill.
William Anderson who was responsible for the cropping and hay making, and finally died of a heart failure on Koorian while reparing a binder.
