Notes - George worked as a surveyor until he enlisted in the U.S. Army 113th Engineers. He was a sergeant stationed at the Vancouver Barracks in Washington. He was honorably discharged December 23rd 1918. He tried to make his fortune in land leases in South Dakota , but had no luck. In 1923 he returned to Denver and took courses in engineering. He then moved to Los Angeles where he was employed as a construction Engineer in the Bureau of Engineering for nearly eleven years. When the Federal program of Unemployment Work Relief was inaugurated late in 1933 he expedited the opening of projects sponsored by the city, and was the representative of the City Engineer in all negotiations with Federal, State and County authorities in connection with the various programs of Unemployment Work Relief. He then was appointed the head of the newly created Federal Coordinating Division, where he worked for several yearsuntil his death.
George was President of the Los Angeles Municipal Engineers' Assn in1933, he was a Mason and belonged to the Los Angeles Country Club, and the Jonathan Club. He played golf.
