1832 Not listed in 1832 census because in June 1832 was convicted on a charge of assaulting his wife and was sentenced to two months in Fremantle Gaol (CSR 27/178). (1832 Census, WA)
29.5.1833 "Wednesday 29th May, 1833, Before W.H. Mackie, Esq. and the Rev. J.B. Wittenoom, Justices of the Peace at Perth. Charles Gee was charged with stealing a quantity of soap. Dr. Milligan, being sworn - During my absence from home, on a visit to a friend, the previous evening I received an intimation by my servant that some soap had been stolen from the Kitchen; as the prisoner Gee was suspected, I went in the direction he was described to have taken, and overtook him in company with his wife. The soap was lying on the ground, rolled up in her apron. I asked Gee how he could have been guilty of robbing me, after employing him so long; he immediately acknowledged that he had taken the soap from my house, but appeared anxious to ----- notice of what he had done. Mr Francis Milligan confirmed the previous evidence. The prisoner being called upon for his defence, said "It is no use to deny the charge, I did steal the soap - but my wife is as innocent as a child unborn of the whole matter." The prisoner was fully committed for trial at the next Quarter Sessions. (Perth Gazette, Saturday June 1st, 1833)
14.12.1833 "Charles Gee, at the complaint of his wife, was committed on Thursday last, to the jail of Fremantle, for 6 weeks with hard labour, not having paid the fine of £5, ordered by the Magistrates, for beating her with a rope. This is the third time Gee has been brought up for the same offence." (Perth Gazette, Saturday December 14, 1833)
15.2.1834 " William Gee, a boy, about 12 years of age, - although of tender years, an old and hardened offender, - was sentenced to six months' imprisonment with hard labour, suited to his years, for stealing potatoesfrom the garden of J. Morgan, Esq. Charles Gee, of Perth, Carpenter, was sentenced to pay a fine of £5 for beating his wife." (Perth Gazette, Saturday February 15, 1834)
