"Unfortunately we do not have the trial records for Joseph Harris here. As he was tried at the Lncolnshire assize court, rather than one of the Quarter Sessions courts, records relating to his trial are held centrally at the Public Record Office. The PRO has an on-line leaflet about their transportantion records at www.pro.gov.uk/leaflets/ri2235.htm . The jornal of the gaoler of Lincoln gaolmentions Joseph Harris briefly. It states that he was sentenced to 7 years, and was cautioned for disobedience on 1 August 1864."
