  • Notes
    • Dorothy won the championship of Australia in selling the most real estate in 1960s whilst working for Willmore and Randell in Victoria. She won two gold metal after she beat both men and women in the competition. She was a self taught cook who ended up being head chef at Isabella's restaurant in Russell St Melbourne in the early 1970s.For many years, Isabella's restaurant was rated as one of Melbourne's best restaurants. Dorothy's son Leslie was saved from drowning by their dog'Shep'in the 1950s. Shep was the first dog in the southern hemisphere to win the canine version of the Victorian Cross for bravery. The dog grabbed Leslie's shirt collar and kept his head above the water when he saw him struggling. He was also presented with an orange coloured sash from the Royal Melbourne Show for his bravery. The sash had Royal Melbourne Show 1952 or 53 in yellow writing. Pictures of Shep and the story of his courage was reported in the newspapers at that time. There was also another incident when Shep protected Dorothy from being attacked by a black dog whilst she was taking him for a walk. Shep thwarted the black dogs attacks on Dorothy by blocking it's every move. This brave alsation dog holds a very special place in our hearts.
