Notes - Matthew Padbury came to W.A. at the age of 18 (1888) brought out by his Uncle (3rd cousin) Mr Walter Padbury on Mr Padbury's ship Charlotte Padbury. He worked on Walter Padbury's farms at Koogan, Yatheroo and Glentromie and was later given the opportunity of purchasing Koogan. He developed it to become one of the best properties in the Midlands and was well known for its pure bred Horses, Cattle and Sheep, all prize winners at numerous Royal Shows.
When Matt Padbury left Koogan to retire to live at Guildford, he was Chairman of the Moora Road Board, President of the Farmers Settlers Association of Moora, Chairman of the Repatriation Committee, Chairman and Managing Director of the Moora Co-operative Store, Vice Chairman of the Moora District Hospital, Church Warden of the Padbury Memorial Church, President of the Moora Agricultural Society, a Director of the "Moora Herald", Vice Chairman of the Moora Club, Chairman of the West Australian Farmers, Vice Chairman of the Farmers and Settlers Association of W.A., and a Justice of Peace.
