  • Notes 
    • According to “the family” he and his wife came to Australia from Cambridge in 1852, and settled at Black River. It seems possible, however (probable?) that he may have arrived as a convict on board the Gilmore to Hobart in 1843. Whatever the background the time of arrival on Tasmania’s north-west coast seems accurate. There is obviously more to this story which I would love to discover.
