Reference Number #929-York Notes - Interesting to note that throughout their marriage they were known as Henry & Sarah STEVENS and not CARTER???? I thought this a mistake at first with his occupation....Henry was a 'carter' as well as a blacksmith, but it appears he took on the name STEVENS for other reasons.

Notes - Listed in York census 1859 as a whitesmith with stepchd.
Not convinced that Sarah was born in Wiltshire.
Sarah said that she was born in Gloucester in the 1859 York Census.
There was only a short article in the newspaper about her death, but according to her death certificate she died of stomach cancer at the age of 78 yrs, puttting her year of birth c1813.
