Notes - Now there are a lot of 'IFs' and 'BUTs' in this, but just follow me through.
IF George Jeremiah W was born in 1820 then we can let that one go - marrying a 17-yr old. IF, however, he was not born until 1826 then the pair of them were both only 17 when they married and might, previously, "have been up to no good"!!! IF the marriage date (6 Dec 1843) is correct, and IF the DoB of Mary (their daughter) IS 16 Jun 1844 then she (Mary) MUST have been born in Australia because Jeremiah and Priscilla arrived there on 25 Mar 1844.
Further, IF Mary's DoB is correct, and IF the marriage date is correct then our Priscilla MUST have been 3 months (or so) pregnant when she got married (the Harvest Festival celebrations of 1843 in late September MAY have been responsible for rather more than the occasional bucolic hangover!). This sort of occurrence is what I delicately call "a calendrical accounting difficulty"!!! Find me a family that ain't had one!!! This MAY - in this case - put more emphasis on the social/family pressures to "disappear to a new land" than the post-Napoleonic War and/or Enclosure Acts - on which I have tended to 'hang' the reasons for many of the Woolhouse emigrations to Australasia, Canada, and the USA.
