Notes - Juan (John) Perejuan -
Juan Perejuan arrived as a lay worker with the monks from New Norcia .He worked there also.
Arrived 29/12/1849 on the "La Ferrolana " (Ferrolina) with the Benedictine party as a lay worker. When New Norcia was temporarily disbanded in 1850,he was released from work there and was employed in Perth.
29/2/1860 was naturalized
1862 To Greenough and bought 40 acres.
1862 to 1879 - established an Inn ,'The Hunting Kangaroo Arms' at Allenooka,better known as 'Halfway House.
Served on the local board of Education.
-1880 16th of July - A petition was signed by Juan in Greenough for the reserve to be used as a resting and stopping [site] for cattle and travellers.

'Ancient Landmarks' by Mary Albertus Bain (p 235 ) states that Juan was an ex-indentured servant.
- p 281 - to refer to "Victoria Express" 20/7/1881 re' Mr Perejuan occupied the Vice -Chair [man's position of a farm ploughing competition] with all the dignity of a foreigner"
-p 304 " Juan Perejuan had at one time been a lay brother at New Norcia.......rented a tillage lease near Allanooka Swamp. In the [18]60's he added to his stone and pug house an extra room, and obtained a wayside liscence. [The premises were] known as "The Halfway House" and known locally as the "Hunting Kangaroo Arms",......... [where] the gentry ate roo, steak and eggs, well established farmers roo and tomatoes , and ticket of leave men ate roo stew.
John Vincent Perejuan died 24/7/1900 at Allanooka. Executors - Louis Vincent Perejuan of Allanooka, farmer , and Alfred John Perejuan of Malmalling, contactor. Probate granted 2/6/1909. 103/1909
