Notes - In 2013, Nanna told this recount of her wedding night...
Their Wedding night was at the Kalamunda Hotel. Apparently when they arrived up there around 11.00pm in their wedding clothes (Nan in her wedding dress and Pop in his suite) it was shut and nobody was around. They knocked and tried to find someone to let them in.
They ended up walking around to the back of the hotel and climb up three flights of metal stairs until they came to the door where they could get in. Then they had to walk along the corridors looking for the room with the key in the door which was their room and let themselves in. She said it was about a week that they stayed there. It turns out those stairs they climb around the back was the fire escape. Image Nanna with the long train of her wedding dress wrapped over her arm climbing it. (She made her wedding dress herself).
Lucky Pop didn’t have to carry her up them.
