There’s No Place Like Home

There’s No Place Like Home

Just spent 10 days in Bali, Indonesia with Alex and our best friends.
I love the feeling of returning home… after a holiday, at the end of a long workday, from the hustle and bustle of a shopping centre with all your loot. Whether life’s going good or bad, if you have a place you call home, you have a sanctuary to retreat to.

Ask people about important places in their life and most often they will list things like; their house, childhood home, a suburb they lived in, the state they are from or the country they call home.
Ask a lot of guys and you may get a sub-set of home; the shed, the garage, the clubhouse and the pub. We all need a sanctuary! That place we go that allows us to be comfortable in our own skin, where we are king of our domain.

Going on holidays is great and you normally love every minute of it, but at some point it has to end. You may feel sad it’s over but when you get back to your own place, your bed, your lounge… you just feel good.
I do love the feeling but… I’ve been home 5 min and now I’m thinking of the next holiday to plan and Alex is counting down to the next Bali trip..

Planned Bali Holiday – May 2014

THEN

Planned Family History Holiday – Christmas 2015
(Alex, Darryl, Sheridan)

  • Burglengenfeld, Bavaria, Germany – (Alex’s Birthplace – Christmas with Alex’s extended family)
  • Inniscarra, Co. Cork, Ireland – (Believed birthplace of my Brady Family)
  • Sindri, Dhanbad, Jharkhand, India – (Sheridan’s mother’s birthplace)

Ok so I have an outline, just need to do some research on costs, logistics of distance and timeframe, travel requirements and genealogy “must see” places.
