Notes - Irene or Rene as we knew her had a glass eye, which as children we found fascinating. I recall my mother telling me she had cancer and had to have her eye removed. She was an untidy sort of lady, overweight and a very good cook I believe, especially of sponge cakes.
Reg & Rene did not have any children. Reg’s brother Jack and his wife Dulcie were the wild pair of the family and had quite a few. Somewhere along the line one pregnancy didn’t go well and Dulcie gave birth to twins with only one surviving. Due to ill health it was decided that Reg & Rene would look after the surviving twin “Michael” born in 1951. As the years past there were the occasional family eruptions when Jack & Dulcie would try to take back this child and Reg & Rene lived in fear of losing him. Michael was a very loved and spoilt child.
